Artificial intelligence can help you invest your money simply and efficiently. That is exactly what Q.Ai demonstrates – the AI investment advisor from quirion and Quirin Privatbank. In this interview, quirion CEO Martin Daut explains what Q.Ai does and what goals we are pursuing with it.
When I want to learn something about investing, I have all sorts of options. I could just Google it, for example. So why should I use Q.Ai instead?
Well, what would you actually search for? That is usually where the problem begins. Either you already have to know quite a bit about investing, or you have to put blind trust in sources whose reliability and motives may be questionable. In any case, when people hear the word “investing,” they usually already have certain products in mind. Some think of interest-rate offers. Others think of ETFs tracking well-known stock indices, or of fund rankings. If they search for those, they will certainly find plenty online – but they often end up with investments that do not suit them or their goals at all.
To invest the right way, I first have to keep my goals in sight. Do I have specific amounts in mind that I want to reach within a certain time frame? Do I want to buy a new car or a house? Do I want to improve my retirement provision? This is exactly where Q.Ai comes in. Through dialogue, it brings users a step closer to their investment goals. And that is precisely what makes it an AI bot: it can do far more than a classic chatbot.
Couldn’t a chatbot like ChatGPT help me with that too?
Not in the way Q.Ai can. It is designed and trained to keep asking follow-up questions. That way, we want to make sure the answers are genuinely helpful in the end. On top of that, Q.Ai holds a great deal of specialist knowledge – for instance, scientific insights from capital-market research, along with expertise our specialists have gathered over decades of hands-on experience. Q.Ai does not simply help itself at random to whatever content it finds on the web.
In Germany, we are the first financial services provider to offer something like this. Our top priority: to explain, as neutrally as possible, how you can invest your money well – and to do so in a way that is as easy to understand as possible. Our focus is on users who know little to nothing about investing but are interested in it.
Does Q.Ai also know which stocks are especially promising, or whether a particular market trend will continue?
Questions like these send you down the wrong track. And the search for answers to them has already cost investors a great deal of money. Q.Ai knows what capital-market research says: no one can beat the market systematically and over the long term. Because no one can see into the future. That is true for fund managers, but also for artificial intelligence. To answer such questions, the machine would have to predict, down to the last detail, a whole host of factors and how they interact. It would have to know, for example, the decisions of companies or central banks before they were even made. It would also have to know how buyers and sellers on the stock market would react to them. No artificial intelligence can do that. Which does not mean Q.Ai cannot give you a sensible answer on how to pursue certain investment goals as efficiently as possible.
For many people, investing is a very personal matter. What if I would rather talk it through with a real person?
You can still do that with us. Q.Ai is a complementary offering. In the chat with the bot, you can find out about investing quickly and easily, whenever you like – and in a way that makes it easier for you to reach a self-determined decision afterwards.
So it is not about selling anything?
Of course we want to convey our expertise. And we hope that expertise convinces. But the machine is not programmed to sell. Unlike at so many other financial services providers, product commissions have never played any role at Quirin Privatbank or at quirion. That is precisely what allows us to start with our customers’ goals rather than with products. For us, Q.Ai is another step on our mission to democratise investing and deliver “returns for everyone.” Why not simply give Q.Ai a try yourself? It costs nothing, but it is well worth it!
