Investing is getting easier: quirion has drastically cut the minimum investment from an original €10,000 to €1,000. The minimum investment, reduced by 90 percent, initially applies as part of a promotion running until 10 October 2019. “We first want to test how a significantly lower minimum investment goes down with new customers,” explains Karl Matthäus Schmidt, founder and board member of quirion. One aim of the minimum investment being lowered to €1,000 is to become more attractive to younger investors, too. Because minimum investments of €10,000 come across as off-putting, especially to younger new investors and people just starting their careers.
Since the minimum investment was lowered to €1,000, the number of customers has grown. quirion has passed the 10,000-customer mark. With more than 10,200 customers, the number of customers has thus risen by 89 percent since the start of the year. Assets under management have also grown by around 75 percent from January to mid-August and currently amount to about €280 million.
Since building wealth should ideally start in your early years, quirion has significantly lowered a barrier to entry. The younger an investor is, the easier it is for them to build wealth. And that is precisely what matters when it comes to topics such as negative interest rates and retirement provision. People on lower incomes should also, given the pension gap, have the chance of genuine asset management at low cost, tailored to their particular appetite for risk.
