Portfolio check: there's more in it for you

How can I make more of my money? If you ask yourself this question now and then: our investment strategists will draw up a free, individual assessment that answers it – whether for available funds or an existing securities portfolio.

Savings held in classic interest-bearing products have certain advantages: there are no price fluctuations, and they're fairly safe. But it's also fairly certain that money parked there constantly loses purchasing power. The core functions of investing – namely building wealth or protecting against inflation – are ones such products hardly fulfill.

The real interest rate as an indicator of preserving wealth

Anyone who wants to make more of their money taps into the dynamics of the capital markets. Yet portfolios often lack the right balance of return and risk: a few holdings in actively managed funds from the best-of lists of years past. Perhaps alongside them a handful of individual stocks, among which the odd loser or two has long been dragged along in the hope of better days. This, or something like it, is what many portfolios look like. The bottom line, in any case, is that the investment result often falls short of what the markets have to offer.

Market return beats investor return

Why not simply make use of our expertise to invest your freely available assets more effectively? Our investment strategists examine your investments according to the criteria of capital market research – whether it's liquid funds, savings deposits or particular securities such as funds or stocks. This portfolio check is free and entirely without obligation. All you have to do for it is provide a few simple details in an online form. Above all, it's about whether and how your capital is currently invested. In addition, for the assessment you'll need to tick one of a total of five risk classes. From risk classes A to E, we gain an impression of your risk profile.

Bringing method to your portfolio

The assessment is no substitute for investment advice, but it does make concrete suggestions. When it comes to optimization, there are essentially two paths: aiming for a higher return at the same level of risk, or taking on less risk for the same expected return. In structuring things, avoiding "unsystematic risks" is important to our experts in every case. These include, for example, overweighting individual holdings or industries. Because they increase risk without promising a commensurate return.

Overall, diversification plays the central role in systematic wealth-building. Diversification doesn't mean holding as many securities as possible. What's decisive for success is rather exactly how you spread your investments. And that the spreading is implemented so cost-effectively that it doesn't needlessly weaken the return potential.

In the assessment, you'll find more detailed guidance on this. Beyond that, it contains comparisons of key figures for the existing and the optimized investment variants. These include, for example, calculations on return, on the intensity of fluctuations and on efficiency. We also explain some of the background: how does return even come about? How can you "harvest" it systematically? This way, you'll learn more about how an investment strategy can, in principle, be optimized.
