How long should an ETF savings plan run?

The duration of an ETF savings plan should be based on your individual investment horizon and any personal financial goals beyond that. Longer terms of at least 5 years are ideal. As a general rule: the longer, the better, as this maximises the compound interest effect and allows market fluctuations to be better balanced out. For goals such as retirement provision or buying a property, terms of several decades can even make sense. However, the invested capital is in no case tied up; in principle, it is available at any time.
