Investing is not an end in itself. It is always about goals that you strive for and, ideally, also reach. Whether that is realistic with your own financial strategy can be worked out in just a few steps with our q-Navigator.
What goals are you investing for? Do you have a special car in mind, or a private supplementary pension for later on? Perhaps you would most like to have both. Perhaps something else entirely. Whatever it is: goals like these are a basis for deciding how best to invest your money.
You know your own goals very well. What is harder is to gauge more precisely whether your wishes can actually be fulfilled with your own financial strategy. With the new q-Navigator, though, you can find that out quickly. "The tool shows at a glance whether your own path ultimately leads to your goal - or how far off you are likely to be," explains Jens Gottheiner, wealth adviser at Quirin Privatbank and head of the Berlin branch.
The q-Navigator is free and works anonymously. It needs only a few details. Such as how your money is currently invested. That is, whether it is in cash positions like overnight deposits, in shares, bonds or property. Then all you have to do is put a figure on your goals in monetary terms. For example, you can state what monthly amount you would like to have available on top in retirement. The tool immediately shows the possible development of your wealth.

Scenarios for the future
It gets especially interesting when you vary the development using different savings amounts or one-off contributions. Because the q-Navigator calculates using the asset allocation you have entered, you can also modify that on a trial basis, for example earmarking more money for the stock markets. You can also see how inflation affects the simulated result. "Anyone who plays through different alternatives will quickly realise: sometimes even small adjustments can change the result significantly," Gottheiner emphasises.

The q-Navigator cannot, of course, predict the future. The results are simulations based on extensive data from the past, on reference indices for the various asset classes. "But the results are far more soundly based than the simple average calculations that many savings-plan calculators on the web work with, for instance," Gottheiner notes. Several scenarios are always displayed - that is, a range of potential developments.
Goals at the centre
The tool is the light version of a professional financial-planning software package. All of Quirin Privatbank's advisers use it in the full version. Because there too, in day-to-day advisory work, customers' goals are at the centre. That may sound self-evident, but it is not.
Gottheiner knows this from his own experience. Before he joined our parent company in 2018, he spent many years as a wealth adviser at a large international bank. "There, as at the vast majority of banks, it was primarily about selling products - not about the investment goals of the customers." At Quirin it is different. Product commissions have played no role there ever since the wealth-management arm was founded.
The q-Navigator, too, shows the development in a completely neutral way. The tool does not suggest any particular investment mix or specific products. Anyone who wants to know how to invest their wealth more efficiently can, for example, use the free portfolio check from quirion.
"With the q-Navigator, it is initially simply about recognising possible gaps in your financial planning," explains Gottheiner. And so the tool offers a point of orientation on the way to your own investment goals. So that, if need be, you can adjust course in good time and then really do reach your goals.
