More about the man behind the podcast, Karl Matthäus Schmidt
As the son of a sixth-generation banking family, Karl Matthäus Schmidt has always been particularly preoccupied with one question: "How can I make Germany a better place for investors?" In the industry he is regarded as a maverick, and he has revolutionized the German banking system three times. In 1994, at just 25, he founded Consors, Germany's first online broker, which he took public five years later and eventually sold to a major French bank. In the years that followed, he developed a second banking innovation in Germany, fee-based advice, and in 2006 founded what is now Quirin Privatbank. In 2013, he launched quirion, the digital investment arm of Quirin Privatbank. Together, Quirin Privatbank and quirion combine the best of both worlds: personal wealth advice and digital investing.
