How large is the average pension gap?

The pension gap can vary greatly from person to person. Currently, pension payout amounts relative to a standard pension are at a pension level of 48%, which means that pensioners on average receive just under half of the average net income from gainful employment (if they draw a statutory pension only). The standard pension mentioned assumes the standard retirement age at the point of retirement (67 for those born in 1964 or later) and 45 contribution years. During these 45 contribution years, the pensioner must have earned the average income every year.
