You’ve got mail!

The digital mailbox is part of the standard setup for our clients. It’s where all the important information arrives.

Whether it’s a trip to the letterbox or a click on your emails, checking the mail is one of those daily routines. After all, you don’t want to miss anything important. Be honest: when did you last take a look at your digital mailbox at quirion? “Checking in from time to time can pay off,” promises Volker Dansauer, the head of our back office. “For reasons of security and data protection alone, we don’t send the most important information to private email addresses – only there.”

This applies, for example, to your personal performance reporting. “Once a quarter we report back to clients on how the assets entrusted to us have developed,” Dansauer explains. The overview breaks down, for instance, how well the chosen strategy has performed on a monthly and quarterly basis. It also provides information on returns and fees. “Every detail is presented transparently.”

Insight into market developments

The mailbox also regularly receives quarterly reports from the investment management team. There you’ll learn more about the market movements that mattered for the global or the sustainable portfolio over the previous three months – and about exactly how individual segments have performed.

The investment management team explains the background to developments in the factors that play a role in quirion’s investment strategy. Finally, there’s a brief summary and an outlook. “While quirion’s investment strategy deliberately isn’t based on forecasts, we do want to give clients some orientation,” Dansauer emphasizes.

A clearer overview thanks to filters

Whether it’s monthly account statements, changes to the terms and conditions, or messages about rebalancing the portfolio: everything can be found paperless in the mailbox. That also goes for answers to questions put to client support, provided they are made in writing. “If you’re looking for something specific, you can use the filter function,” Dansauer stresses.

When looking into the mailbox, some clients will notice that so-called income statements pile up from time to time. These are issued, for example, when ETFs distribute dividends. Such income is automatically reinvested and the details also appear in your personal quarterly reporting, but the individual notification is a regulatory requirement.

Among the “most-clicked messages” in the mailbox are the annual tax certificate and the accompanying income statement. The latter isn’t itself relevant for your tax return, but it helps you understand it.

It will take a little while before the certificates for 2022 are ready. “We always prepare the annual tax certificate only once we have all the information,” Dansauer explains. “With some issuers we have to wait several months for it – that’s not something we control ourselves.” But the company doesn’t want to hand over incomplete documents that then, for the missing details, simply point clients to external sources of information. “As in so many other places, here too we want to make things as easy as possible for our clients.”
