Which battery technology has a future?

There is a high level of technological development dynamics in the field of batteries, so a forecast is not entirely straightforward. In the short to medium term, "sodium-ion batteries" are considered forward-looking, as they do not require lithium, nickel or cobalt and are therefore very sustainable. “Aluminium-sulphur batteries”, which get by entirely without lithium, are also sustainable and already in use. The key will be to strike the balance between sustainability, manageable costs, a long range and a short charging time, so that the batteries become suitable for mass adoption and gain sufficient acceptance among the public.
