What does infrastructure actually mean?

Roads, public transport, schools, hospitals, parks, bridges, airports – all of these are part of a country's infrastructure. Or to put it another way: infrastructure encompasses all state and private facilities that serve the quality of life of citizens and the economic development of a nation.

What all belongs to infrastructure?

Infrastructure can be divided as follows:

Technical infrastructure: roads, public transport
Social infrastructure: schools, hospitals
Green infrastructure: parks, nature reserves
Digital infrastructure: internet, fixed-line networks, mobile networks

Why is infrastructure an exciting thematic investment?

For a long time, investments in infrastructure were negligently neglected. The result: crumbling roads, bridges and schools, outdated railway facilities and sewage systems everywhere. Consequently, enormous infrastructure investments are on the horizon in the coming years (in roads/rail, water supply, waste, communications, energy, etc.).
